早前曾被分类为猩猩亚科的大猩猩（Gorilla gorilla）、黑猩猩（Pan troglodytes） 以及倭黑猩猩（Pan paniscus）等因为在亲缘上与人类更接近而在后来被重新分类到人亚科之 中。
